School district is one of the first questions we get from anyone moving to Pearland, and it’s worth understanding at more than a bumper-sticker level. Here’s the short version.
The district itself
Pearland Independent School District covers most of the city and holds an A rating from Niche, currently ranked the #1 school district in Brazoria County and #4 in the greater Houston area. It’s a large district — dozens of campuses across elementary, junior high, and high school levels — which means school assignment within Pearland ISD can vary meaningfully by neighborhood. If a specific campus matters to you, it’s worth confirming attendance zones for any address you’re considering rather than assuming “Pearland ISD” alone tells the whole story.
A few individual campuses have drawn particular recognition in recent Houston-metro rankings: Silvercrest, Shadycrest, and Silverlake elementary schools; Berry Miller Junior High, Rogers Middle School, and Pearland Junior High West; and Glenda Dawson High School, which also earned an A+ rating from Niche.
One important caveat: not everyone in our coverage area is in Pearland ISD
This trips people up more than almost anything else. Manvel — despite sitting right next to Pearland and sharing a lot of its identity — is served by Alvin Independent School District, not Pearland ISD. Manvel has its own high school and junior high within Alvin ISD. If you’re comparing homes across the Pearland/Manvel line, this is one of the first things to check, since it affects everything from attendance zones to bus routes to which sports rivalries your kids inherit.
What we’d actually recommend
Rankings are a fine starting point, but they change year to year and don’t capture fit — a school’s arts program, special education support, or class sizes matter more to most families than an overall letter grade. If you’re house-hunting with schools as a priority, verify the specific attendance zone for any property (district boundaries and campus zones can shift), and if possible, visit the campus or talk to families already zoned there.
